I am very curious to hear what you have to say on this!Īs detailed in a previous post here in the group, just the past weekend did several loads of wash with a box of "Gain" detergent that by all accounts >20 years old. Seems like detergent a few years ago was very prone to leave these deposits and I've seen it in several machines with white agitators. Seems like most people think it never goes bad, but again, I am curious what our crowd says.įinally, and the second reason why I called P&G - has anyone noticed a grayish or brownish haze on an agitator after using liquid detergents? I don't mean white residue, I mean something gray or brown. I am shocked!!! If that's true, I have a whole lot of stock pile that is "out of date".ĭo the experts here agree with that? I know I've used old detergents and had no issues with it. So, I asked P&G - they said "Yes, detergent has a shelf life of one year from date of manufacture." They said that it won't hurt to use it when older than that, but that it may not be as effective. It said something like April 2012, and another was June 2012. What started the issue is several fold, but I noticed on a bargain brand detergent bottle at a local grocer recently that an expiration date was PRINTED on the neck of the bottle. I am not sure if this has been discussed on here before or at much length, but I raised a question for P&G today about laundry detergent expiration dates. ![]() ![]() ![]() Compare Standard and Premium Digital here.Īny changes made can be done at any time and will become effective at the end of the trial period, allowing you to retain full access for 4 weeks, even if you downgrade or cancel. ![]() You may also opt to downgrade to Standard Digital, a robust journalistic offering that fulfils many user’s needs. The distinction is generally made at the time a law creates a program or provides authority to undertake an activity. The labels discretionary and mandatory identify the process by which the Congress provides funds for federal programs or activities. In 2020, for example, lawmakers enacted four laws that provided supplemental appropriations in response to the coronavirus pandemic to give financial assistance to individuals, businesses, and other entities. The Congress can also supplement regular appropriations that have already been enacted. When regular appropriations are not in place by October 1, the start of the fiscal year, a continuing resolution can be enacted to provide temporary budget authority for a specified period, typically in amounts equal to appropriations for the previous year. The Congress may consider multiple regular appropriation bills in a given year or provide all discretionary appropriations in one omnibus bill. In the absence of an authorization act, an appropriation act-by providing funding-can also authorize agencies to operate a program or to undertake an activity. (For more information, see Expired and Expiring Authorizations of Appropriations: Fiscal Year 2021.)Īppropriation acts make funding available to federal programs and activities by providing budget authority to federal agencies, usually by specifying an amount of money for a given fiscal year. Those authorization laws may include language such as “there is authorized to be appropriated ,” indicating that any funding for the program must be provided in subsequent appropriation acts. Other authorization laws establish or continue discretionary programs, which receive their funding in appropriation acts. When an authorization act provides funding directly from the Treasury (so that the program does not require an annual appropriation), that amount is classified as mandatory spending. Such laws delineate a program’s terms and conditions-often, its duration and eligibility rules. Authorization Acts and Appropriation Acts?Īuthorization acts and appropriation acts provide the legal authority for the government to operate and fund programs or activities.Īuthorization acts establish or continue the authority for agencies to conduct programs or activities. (For more information about how the Congressional Budget Office estimates outlays, see CBO’s Waterfall Model for Projecting Discretionary Spending, March 2021.). That occurs, for example, when a federal agency deposits grant funds into recipients’ accounts or the Social Security Administration disburses payments to beneficiaries. In general, outlays occur when a federal agency issues checks, disburses cash, or makes electronic transfers to liquidate (or settle) an obligation. If funds are not obligated within the specified period, they expire (or lapse) and are no longer available for use. Often, the funds must be obligated within a specified period-typically one or several years-although some funds are available indefinitely. For example, the Department of Defense incurs an obligation when it enters into a contract to purchase equipment. Once budget authority has been provided for a given purpose, an agency can incur an obligation-a legally binding commitment. For example, the federal crop insurance program uses indefinite budget authority to provide insurance products to farmers and ranchers at subsidized rates. The amount of budget authority provided can be specific-such as when the Congress provides a set amount for a program or activity-or indefinite. The authority to commit to spending federal funds is provided to agencies by law. Often called funding, budget authority is the amount of money available to a federal agency for a specific purpose. Budget Authority, Obligations, and Outlays?īudget authority, obligations, and outlays are related terms that describe the funds provided, committed, and used for a program or activity. (For detailed definitions, see CBO’s Glossary. This guide briefly explains-in plain language-the differences between some common budgetary terms. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Drivemaster’s RoleĪs might be expected, the drivemaster is an experienced hunter who knows the territory and how to position his hunters to take advantage of the day’s weather and wind direction.e’s aware of any changes to the property that might have taken place since the previous hunting season, such as terrain funnels that have been blocked or created, lanes and logging roads that have been constructed and woodlots that have been cleared. Two-way radios, one in the hands of the drivemaster and the other in the hands of the captain of the drivers, maximize the coordination of the two teams of drivers and standers. A topographical map of the area to be hunted helps each participant better understand how the drive will play out. ![]() Sometimes consecutive drives are planned, making such information all the more important. The drivemaster must explain the route of the drive, where each stander will be and what is expected of each, and let each person know when the drive will begin. “Every person must know what is expected of him before, during and after the drive,” he says. Miller believes that communication is the key to a productive drive. The person who violated the safety rule is then asked to leave-presumably to meditate on his transgression. Anyone who notices an unsafe act committed by another hunter is required to tell a member of the club’s hunt committee. “Furthermore, standers can’t leave their stands until they are picked up, even if they have shot at a deer that has run off.”Ī hunter who doesn’t comply with the rules forfeits his place in the hunt. “Standers don’t load their guns until they are on stand, and they empty their guns before they leave their stands,” Cedrone says. Miller prohibits his standers from shooting directly to their left or right that is, in the direction of the nearest standers. Ideally, says Miller, a driver should wait until the deer has backtracked past the line of drivers before he takes a shot. “We tell each stander where the next stander will be,” adds Cedrone, “and he already knows where the stander on his other side is, because he saw him get dropped off.”Ī driver should be able to see the drivers on each side of him. Standers are encouraged to do the same, although neither the club nor New York state law mandates it. The club requires drivers to wear hunter-orange garments. In other organized drives, drivemasters might permit only the driver at each flank to carry a gun. To help keep drives safe, Cedrone’s club doesn’t allow drivers to carry firearms. “We haven’t had an accident since Highland Field and Stream Club was formed in 1924,” Cedrone says. Simple guidelines can minimize the possibilities of a mishap. No hunt can be a success if someone gets hurt. Here are some of the techniques they follow. John Miller and Gerald Cedrone are drivemasters for hunting clubs based in New York’s Catskill Mountains, which means that they plan, organize and supervise every drive. It takes a knowledgeable drivemaster, a good plan, and, most of all, a primary emphasis on safety for all involved. The standers do most of the shooting, but the drivers likely will get some shots too, presuming they are allowed to carry guns.Ī successful drive doesn’t just happen. Simply described, a drive is a strategy in which some hunters are posted along the outskirts of a specified piece of land, and other hunters-and dogs, where it is legal-move through the section pushing deer ahead and to the sides. That assumes the hunters are organized and follow the game plan for their respective roles. Driving deer involves elements of still-hunting and stand-hunting and, when conducted correctly, offers safe and exciting sport. When deer are heavily pressured and loath to move from thick cover, it’s hard to beat drive-hunting for putting meat on the table. ![]() Still-hunting and stand-hunting are the most prevalent tactics among deer hunters, but there are times when they aren’t the most productive. ![]() ![]() You can switch to a control channel with less interference. So the shorter the cable length, the better. That way, it ends up making more sense to use a short pigtail to connect the longer cable to the connector on the board, than to try to find a longer pigtail to connect it directly to the antenna.Īnyway, it is important to emphasize that the signal sent to the antenna is quite weak, so cables and connectors always represent an important point of loss. In comparison, better shielded cables used in antenna cables, for example, can deliver less than 0.2 dB of loss per meter. When you combine a pigtail with 0.4 dB loss with a longer cable, with 2.6 dB loss, for example, you have a total loss of 3dB, both in sending and receiving, eliminating some of the gain offered by the antenna. Generally speaking, a well-built pigtail with 30 cm cable causes a loss of 0.4 to 0.6 dB, which is added to the loss caused by the cable to the antenna (if used). Pigtails invariably cause a small loss of signal they are small precisely so that this loss is the best possible. There are also pigtails for RP-SMA connectors and other combinations. The pigtail connector is a thin, short cable (usually 30 cm or less) used as an adapter between the tiny output used on cards and the N-type connector on the antenna cable. They are used for interconnection between antennas and equipment, whether RF, GSM/GPRS, among others. ![]() They are small cables connected at their ends. With this connector, you can attach two or more electrical conductors with an electric box. It is a special cable with a connector on one end and loose wires on the other one. But cannot be used as a standalone project. WHAT IS A PIGTAIL CONNECTOR?Ī pigtail connector is a unique connector type that can be handy during repair and maintenance projects. This is where pigtail connectors come in handy.īesides, you can also use these connectors to elongate the short circuit wires, thus ensuring easy connection. This could be tiresome if you don’t have the right connector to accomplish this task. While connecting your light fixtures, you have to connect multiple circuits to a single outlet. We know that there is a wide variety of cables and plugins for different purposes, but not all people know all these variations and do not know how much they make production and assembly of audiovisual equipment possible. ![]() ![]() Don't miss the opportunity to add these presidential masterpieces, marking the end of the series, to your collection today.
